This is a drawing of a gift I got a long time ago from a friend. It is a box about 1"x1", made of brass with a blue painted top-and upon it sits a small silver lady bug.
It is the sweetest little thing, and inside of it, is a puzzle that this friend made from a painting he did of me one day near the ocean. It is one of my most favorite things. It was such a compliment when I received it, and was told that they thought of me, so they got it.
I think if I had to be a object, I really think I would be this one.
Anyway, The yellow (as in a recent drawing) is very bright. My scanner seems to love yellow, and finds the faintest hint of it and turns it into the SUN. Otherwise, the colors are very close to the original.
fun little drawing.

p.s.
I can't believe I said "sweetest little thing." wow!

beautiful

What a wonderful gift! And your painting is sweet too!

a couple of wow's from me too!
I'd love to see a show of just "objects' (water kettle, spice jars, brownie camera etc etc) you've drawn, nobody captures surfaces (metal, glass, leather) as beautifully as you!

Great picture!
QUESTION: did you purposely drop those ink spots or were they really accidental?
Posted by: michael kozak | September 20, 2005 at 05:02 AM
Michael: Most of the time they really are accidental. Sometimes i will drop a few on purpose, but one still never can tell how or where they will drop. In this case, one was accidental so to even it out I tried to drop another and 2 fell.
I never can predict the medium.

I like how your drawings all (or mostly) have the ink drops. They're nice touches to very nice drawings.

This just glows. A little, sweet (;D) box of light and texture. Exquisite.

The trails of the corners dotting off into space are nice. Have you tried to adjust your scanner? Tell it less red and green (makes yellow) or more blue (cools yellow)?

It looks like something I can just reach out and grab. Very touching.

Jen Niffer rocks! Nice box . . . i also love the "Corner Cafe" piece and the most recent blind contour. You inspire me. You probably think I never check out your stuff because I never leave comments and that's probably why you don't return my emails. And because you hate me. Seriously though, nice work! Thanks for the link too.
