Recently I had a run-in with Bazooka Gumâ„¢). You know of it I'm sure. It's the pink, rock-hard gum in the red and blue wrapper. It tastes awful and looses it's flavor the moment of tongue touchdown. The gums saving grace (and perhaps the reason it has lasted all these years) is the comic that's nestled between the wrapper and the pink rock (pictured above). These comics are not necessarily funny so it's hard to pin-point what exactly about them I like. There is something to be said about the marketing schemes at work but, in the end, I think the charm of Joe is the collectability of them. I can learn all about a kid who, for some reason, has an eye patch and his wacky, un-funny adventures in a world created by tooth-splinteringly sweet gum! All i have to do is BUY MORE GUM! And if that's not enough to sell you, if you collect 15 comics and $8.99, you can send in for a t-shirt (1 size fits all???)!

I remember getting a comic in French once. For all I know, it may have been the wittiest, most hilarious Bazooka Joe comic ever written. But instead BJ just came off kinda smarmy.
In a similar vein, I'm fascinated with the fun activities enclosed with each Pez dispenser. "Color this princess". That princess freaks me out!

... fortunately I stopped the coffee snorting through my nose at the last frame, cos the coffee was really hot.
i think BJ should have stayed in the thirties along with his icky gum (i can still remember the taste).

Haha! That's a sweet performance by the Bazooka Joe Players. And an excellently colored comic....

I am so tickled by your color registration! It is "dead on."

Like Ian said - the color registration is perfect!

mike - if you can make up your own captions, the sky is the limit for comic hilarity in French!
vit - if you visit the site , you can see the whole new LAME BJ gang that should've stayed in the past.
bandy - not a bad idea. how many different ways can you get sand kicked in your face?
i'm glad you dudes noticed my flawful color registration. :)

Weren't there 'flavours' of Bazooka Joe? Like cherry and grape along with the original? And all of them tasted exactly the same and were equally as rock hard and uber sweet? Ah, memories...

the only way this could be better is if you added the dotty flesh coloring. oh, and where's the fortune?

Changing the subject here, boss. No offense, but that was a pretty weak "exclamation of pain" I just heard.

I didn't say too much about it, Wally. Ours was even worse.

Well, I went back and looked at the old BJ comics. You can really get an education here at Inkfinger. And not to worry--your strip is LOTS better ;D. Your one eyed man, though---does he have some gender anxiety? I note in particular the woman butt and hips and the crimped hair.

I loved the strip, but i'm curious how your gum would taste.

Is my mind playing tricks on me? I could have sworn there was a Sutter comment here about the "exclamation of pain". And now there isn't. It's as if someone were trying to make me think I was mentally unbalanced. But I'm not. I'm as sane as you or me. This cruel little ploy won't work, Government Man.

you are right Wally, there was. i think typepad deleted it cause they thought it was spam or some shit. can't even post in peace on me own site!
