Hey, I just found your site through a link at Wally's. I couldn't resist dropping a line and saying how incredible your illo style is. I'm totally impressed.

cJw

BCF? It has an acronym now, even? Well now it's official. Time for www.bcf.com? :p

Julie Oakley

I love both your illustrations, wish I could participate but my husband will kill me if I find yet another distraction from earning a living or spending time with him

niff

julie: drawing...a distratction? what kind of husband/nazi is this??? =)

it really only takes 5 minutes...but, i understand.

If I had a Blog I would be game. And don't give me "you don't need a blog, just do it," Where is the fun in that? I can just cheat all the time. "Oh yeah, I did this great BC of a Gorilla riding an Elephant."

Laura

OK, these are great and I'm going to keep at it until mine look unblind, like yours and Sutter's. Next Friday!

Niff

cJw: no BCF.com yet. I am hopping to make a little book with all my BC one day though...

Jones: you don't need a website...hey wait..you HAVE one.

Laura: yours look amazing!...I have been doing this for a VERY long time...but sometimes mine come out waaay off. I am actually amazed that this one has that much form.

Wally

Okay, I did one. But what I want to know is, if it's Blind Contour Friday, how come it's first thing Friday morning, and everybody else is already done? Something's not on the up-and-up here. Plus, judging from the results, I'm the only one who actually didn't look. Every single one of you lot cheated.

niff

Wally: well, I told everyone in my last BCF post to PLEASE email me if interest! =) nice to see you keep up with our site.
you are added.

ANNND, i did NOT cheat. I can't speak for sutter though. I only looked when i added the red pen, and i didn't look while drawing it! I know how to get around the rules a bit..=) ha.

Joachim

I tried Blind Contour all morning, but I still need more practice, just to avoid the temptation of looking at the paper. And i'll try something else than indian ink, cause when the pen is dry, the line is over (and so is the drawing)...

My best try is in my URL :)

kim

BCF sounds like a great way to end the week. I'll try it for next time!

By the way, I got my Picnic Mountain and everybody in my house loved it.

Lee

I discovered y'all on the Drawn blog - great stuff here! I would like to try out the BCF sometime if it that would be cool with you...I'm kinda intrigued by the idea....

niff

it is no problem Lee, or anybody else who wants to join in on BCF's. I love seeing all everyones drawings. You are most welcome!

Cin

a wonderful start to BCF, Niff, everyone's entries are terrific! hopefully I'll get my act together for next week. . . .

Fiona

hey i discovered your site through bearskinrug. I'd love to be involved with BCF. I used to study art and loved it. so hows bout you give an aussie a go at it?

Karen Winters

I'd like to do it, when do you post the topic?

elaine

OOOOhhh! I'd like to play this game too - is it a formal/themed thing or do we all just do a drawing next Friday and post a url?

E

Lindsay

Hi, count me in for blind contour friday's! I think this is more my style than Illio friday. Love your site.
Lindsay

Niff

Okay,
for ANYONE who is interested in doing a blind contour next friday (or any friday,) there is no topic (as of yet) so, just send me an email if you wanna link to your site, thurday prior, and I will get you linked up. Email niff.nicholls@gmail.com

All you need to do is make sure it's posted on friday. draw anything you'd like. Just has to be drawn without looking at the paper.

I am so excited that so many of you want to participate.

thanks all.

cJw

A thought; what about a variant of BCF: mouse bcf - using paint?

(I so need a scanner. :)

Niff

cJw:
hurm..i dunno. i think one of the fun things about blind contours is that it gets you away from the computer...a natural drawing exercise - not to mention its permenant. no erasing. once it's down, its down. computers make it a bit too easy to "fix."

Carolyn

How do I participate in this? It sounds really fun.

Terri

I love the idea of Blind Contour Friday. Count me in.

Amanda

Hi. I'd love to get on your blind contour friday group. I just did my first since college. Very frustrating, but very fun.
love your site.

Mona Oxford-Lyman

I am a middle school teacher and teach blind contour drawing to my 7th graders. We plan on starting our unit tomorrow. Perhaps I will be able to send some examples of their drawings by Friday.
