So, I have been inspired by fellow artist and pal Kevin Cornell, to start a BLIND CONTOUR FRIDAY. Maybe I can get other artist in on it like Sutter over here. I'm always doing blind contours because they take really little to no effort and they always turn out cool and surprising.
This is a blind contour of an antique round pendant I found in my apartment in Florida years ago. It has these big green rhinestones on a gold intricate base. I liked the drawing much more before I decided to add the watercolor...I think I just love to screw my drawings up so I can tell you all how great they "were." =)
I'm Looking forward to more Fridays!

for those not in the know....what's a blind contour?

OH! well, mcGert*: A blind contour is when you draw an object without looking at what your drawing...only keeping your eye on the object.
For some reason this one turned out recognizable, but most of the time things turn out much crazier. It is an exercize to help you pay attention to what you are actually drawing. Lots of people stop looking at the subject matter after a while and just at their drawing...It also helps loosen your hand up. =)

I love the idea of Blind Contour Fridays! Come Friday, I'm hopelessly entangled from the week's competing demands anyway, so why not add something fun to the general stew! Count me in.

Uhm...Wow. Your 'blind' drawing looks better than anything I could pull off if I were looking (at my paper)!

wow Niff, that's an amazing blind contour. Blind or not, beautiful lines quality as always. So how will this work ? Just something we do on our own and share ?. . . a particular object each week as subject or pick something at random ?

Hey Cin,( and anyone else that wants to do a blind contour FRIday)
For now, I think everyone should just pick something that is available for them and inspiring...and just post it on FRIday. If you know friday evening that you will have a BC post, shoot me an email and I will be sure to link to your BCF (blind contour FRIday.)
